Root Canal Therapy
What is a Root Canal?
A root canal is a procedure that is used to repair and save a tooth that has decayed to the tooth pulp, becomes infected, or has had an injury or trauma to the tooth.
Root Canal Procedure
A root canal procedure involves removing the nerve and pulp of the tooth. Once these are removed, the inside of the tooth is cleaned and sealed. If a root canal is not performed, the tissue surrounding the tooth will most likely become infected causing abscesses.
The root canal procedure will not affect the the day-to-day function of the tooth. The nerves only function is to provide sensations of hot or cold.
